Spring 2012

In 2012 I planted more varieties of flowers to attract pollinating insects and to bring more colour into the garden every month. Many of the new plants were grown from seed and I dug out a new flowerbed on the sunny side of the lawn to provide additional space for sun-loving plants.  It took me some time to identify several of the flowers contained in the packet mixes, so I hope I managed to get the names right.

Of the new flowers for this year, some of my favourites have been the Echium Vulgare and Red Campion which have flowered for months on end.  Also, the corncockles and poppies growing amongst long grass have given a wonderful wild meadow feel to a small part of the garden.
